What is Family Sponsorship?
Family sponsorship is an immigration process for the family who are willing to reunite with their family members. The process enables permanent residents or Canadian citizenship to sponsor.
Who can you sponsor?
As per the IRCC, the following members are considered to be a family members:
- Spouse or partner
- Dependent child
- Parents
- Grandparents
- Common-law-partner
- Conjugal partner
Eligibility for Family Sponsorship
A Sponsor must meet the following requirements:
- Must be above 18 years.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
- Unless the applicant has some disability, they must not receive social assistance.
- They can also provide the financial needs of the sponsored person.
How to apply?

- Get IRCC’s application package.
- Pay the required family sponsorship application fee.
- Submit your application to IRCC.
