Due to Pandemic, International Experience Canada (IEC) continues to send invitations at a slow pace as Canada allows entry to vaccinated travelers. Canada has announced their plans to open Canada borders for Vaccinated travelers from all countries as of September 7, 2021. As of now, travelers from the United States are permitted to visit Canada.
Although there are plans to open borders to be fully vaccinated, there are no such official announcements from IEC officials. Therefore, until the next update, the job offer requirement remains intact. The candidate will have to submit proof of a valid job offer in order to receive an invitation to apply for 2021.
How to prepare for IEC?
If you want to snag an invitation through IEC, you will have to plan for it. Before applying to IEC, check for eligibility for one of the three IEC programs:
- Working Holiday Program
- Young Professionals
- International Co-Op
Once you make sure you meet all the eligibility criteria for one of the programs, you need to submit yourself to pools. Soon you submit your profile, early is the possibility to be considered for all invitation rounds. Prepare yourself for the work permit application you’ll have to submit if you receive an invitation.
How Pandemic is impacting IEC and other working holiday programs?
Covid-19 has continued to impact Canadian immigration and international travel. In the second half of 2021, Canada’s government has opened borders for international travelers. IEC candidates are able to enter Canada only if the following criteria are met:
- IEC participants who have not yet activated their work permits should have a valid job offer to be eligible.
- IEC participants who have applied for work permits and were outside Canada temporarily. Participants who do not have a valid job offer in order to re-enter.
